Tabex is a medication containing the active substance cytidine, which acts similarly to nicotine in the body of a smoker. It helps smokers gradually quit smoking without experiencing unpleasant sensations or discomfort associated with quitting.
It is intended for individuals who are dependent on smoking (chronic tobacco addiction) and wish to quit.
Before using Tabex:
- Do not take it if you have an allergy (hypersensitivity) to cytidine or any other ingredients in Tabex, have had a recent myocardial infarction or stroke, unstable angina, abnormal heart rhythm (cardiac arrhythmia), or atherosclerosis. It is also not recommended during pregnancy or while breastfeeding.
Relative contraindications for Tabex include chromophylic adrenal tumors, gastroesophageal reflux disease, and certain forms of mental illness such as schizophrenia. Exercise caution if you have ischemic heart disease, heart failure, arterial hypertension, cerebrovascular diseases, blood vessel blockage, kidney or liver diseases, hyperthyroidism, ulcers, or diabetes.
Insufficient clinical experience exists regarding the safe use of Tabex in children under 18 and adults over 65 years of age.
Consult a physician and assess the benefit-risk ratio before administering Tabex to these patient groups.
Inform your doctor if you are using medications such as physostigmine, galantamine, statins, blood pressure-lowering medicines, or tuberculosis treatment drugs, as they may interact with Tabex and increase the risk of side effects.
Regarding food and drink, their consumption does not affect the effectiveness of Tabex.
Pregnant and breastfeeding individuals should avoid Tabex therapy.
Consult your doctor or pharmacist for advice before taking any medication during pregnancy or breastfeeding.
Tabex does not have evidence of adverse effects on driving or operating machinery that requires heightened attention and quick responses.
Important information about Tabex’s ingredients: This medication contains lactose. If you have a sugar intolerance, inform your doctor before starting Tabex therapy.
